Psalm 97:10 - “Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.”
Dear Friends,
We are in the midst of Epiphany, the showing forth of the light of Christ to the world. This is a season of remembering the past presence of Jesus on earth. It is also a season of contemplating the light of Christ. That special light shines in all our hearts. We passively receive it and give thanks for our intimate relationship with our Christ. Also, we know that we are called to spread that light to the world. The Christ we serve taught us that the Church is the Body of Christ in the world.
One of the traps we fall into is thinking we are individual recipients of the light and it is for our special benefit. That leaves us partially Christian. We are called to take our part in the visible Body of Christ, the Church. That step of commitment is a necessary one for full growth in the Lord's grace. We receive light to be light. We are light to share light. Jesus taught us that we disciples are the light of the world in his physical absence.
You have an open invitation to become part of the Body of Christ, visible to the world, united in ministry. Welcome to First United Methodist Church. Disciple Up.
God's best,
Pastor Rusty
